This full day private tour departs from Phnom Penh and is a combination of a cultural and nature trip to the coastal town of Kep.  Get a taste of life in rural Cambodian where you’ll see the villagers at work and learn more about their culture and beliefs.  On day one, you’ll visit Kampong Trach near the Vietnam border, a pepper farm and then a salt field. In the afternoon, we’ll head to a Cham fishing village and then head back to Kampot town where you get to see old colonial-era and Chinese buildings and drive by the nice coastal strip.  You can choose how much time you would prefer to spend at each of the attractions on this laid-back coastal town.  On day two, we’ll head to Bokor Mountain also know as Preah Monivong Natonal Park which is 1,073 meters above sea level and is approximately 1 hour drive from Kampot.  We’ll spend most of the day to catch a glimpse of why the French in the colonial era and the royal families made this place their summer escape in the more distant past.  Besides discovering the abandoned but beautiful ruins, you can get to enjoy the year-round cool climate of the mountain and enjoy the magnificent views from above. Your day is free on Day 3 till we depart to Phnom Penh.

What to Expect

Day 1: This morning, we’ll pick you up at your hotel at 8 am and drive for approximately 3 hours on Highway 33 toward Kampong Trach, which mountain-caves was one of the last Khmer Rouge holdouts. At the entrance of the caves, you will be approached by kids wanting to rent their flashlights to bring into the caves. The large part of day will be spent at the caves and you can also dip to what is known as the Swimming Cave. Have lunch nearby at your own expense and after short drive, we’ll reach the salt farms where during the hot and dry season, you can see the hardworking workers gather the salt into piles, load it into woven baskets and then carry the heavy loads to nearby warehouses. On our next stop, you can get a free tour of the pepper farm and learn about organic farming methods for pepper, different types of pepper and the growing and harvesting seasons, sustainable farming and energy practices. After a picturesque drive through the countryside, you can visit the Cham fishing village where colorful boats are surrounded by remains of mangrove forests that stretch over parts of the coastlines. You can take a look at the mosque and hangout with the kids at the river while observing the fishermen napping while other family members fix the nets and cook a meal. Heading back to Kampot town, you can catch a glimpse of the French in the colonial era and Chinese architecture influence buildings.  
Day 2: This morning, we’ll pick you up at your hotel in Kampot at 830am and drive uphill to Bokor Mountains. Embark on a short tour to discover the ruins from the colonial era including the Old Catholic Church, Old Casino, Old Bokor Palace Hotel and Old Royal Residence. We also get to see Heritage Villa that once houses King Sisowath Monivong (1927-1941) and explore a sense of how a king entertains at the Ancient King Retreat (Damnak Prah Bath Monivong). Head up to 5 Boats Pagoda (Wat Sampov Pram),which is considered the highest temple pagoda in Cambodia and take into the breathtaking view of the sapphire sea and emerald green jungles. We’ll have lunch at Popokvil Waterfalls which essentially translated to “Swirling Clouds.” You can take a scenic walk to enjoy the natural surroundings and take into the fresh mountain air. After that, we’ll head down the mountains and head back to Kampot at 2:30pm. We’ll arrive back to Kampot around 3:30pm and do a short tour of Kampot town and head back to the hotel and refresh before heading back to the pier for the Kampot River cruise at 5pm. After you disembark, you can choose to stay on the cruise to enjoy the view and scenery or head back to your hotel.  
Day 3: Your day is free and easy till we head back to the Phnom Penh at about 11am and drop you off at your hotel.
