If something can easily connect you to a certain culture no matter where you are in the world, then it has to be food. Learning to cook Khmer food is a great way to meet new friends and introduce your Cambodian experience to your loved ones. This half day cooking class is great for couples and families to be introduced in the local culture and in many cases, even an ice-breaker to make conversation with people living there.
What to Expect
At 7:45am, we’ll pick you up at Agri-Tourism Center in Kampot and head to the local market where the local chef explains the types of herbs and spices and different produces and vegetable used in Khmer cuisine. After heading back to the cooking class, you will be guided on how to make three classic recipes: fish amok, beef lok lak and vegetable green curry. The class includes making your own coconut milk and curry paste where only fresh herbs, spices and produce are used. Get to savor your own cooking at the restaurant surrounded by the pepper plantation, lake and nearby forest. After lunch, you can go on a short tour of the plantation and shop for different kinds of pepper produce as gifts for your family and friends before we drop you back at the Agri-Tourism Center.
